Demi Moore made her grand debut at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, and naturally, she brought a plus-one: her beloved pint-sized pup, Pilaf. But in true Thom Browne fashion, that wasn’t the only canine companion on the scene.
Decked out in a sheer Thom Browne design, Demi was every bit the avant-garde queen we expect when someone dares to take on this designer’s signature quirks. Between the red, white, and blue lining, which practically screams “Thom Browne,” and the leather dog-shaped bag she carried, this was a look that needed no introduction.
Now, you know my stance on linings that don’t meet the hemline—it’s a pet peeve. But in this case, it wasn’t one of those dresses trying (and failing) to create an illusion of seamlessness. No, this was classic Thom Browne, leaning into its own eccentricities and making us love it all the more.
Considering this event takes place right by the beach, the lightness and sheerness of the look weren’t exactly shocking. If anything, it added a breezy element to Browne’s usually buttoned-up aesthetic.
