It’s only February, and yet we’ve already seen an influx of archival fashion moments on the red carpet. Mikey Madison has been one of the stars championing this trend, first with her Giorgio Armani ‘90s recreation look for the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Party, followed by the stunning Giorgio Armani Fall/Winter 1992 gown at the Critics Choice Awards.
For her guest appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, which aired on Wednesday, Mikey kept the streak going. And honestly, I’m sure you didn’t need me to tell you this was another archival pull—the look spoke for itself.
This ‘80s Thierry Mugler aqua skirt suit had all the signature elements of that era’s power dressing. The high collar with angular lines? Check. The sharply nipped-in waist that exaggerated the feminine silhouette? Absolutely. The sculpted, dramatic flare of the jacket that made it feel both architectural and elegant? A Mugler hallmark.
But what really sold me was the colour. The fresh aqua hue was the perfect complement to her complexion, bringing out the warmth in her skin tone while adding a radiant, ethereal glow.
Madison kept things refreshingly simple with barely-there makeup, allowing the outfit to do all the talking. White ankle-strap pumps completed the ensemble, rounding off yet another chic archival moment for the actress.
At this rate, I can’t wait to see what vintage gem she’ll unearth next.
