Millie Bobby Brown’s ’90s nostalgia continued for 'The Electric State' photocall

Following the LA premiere, where Millie Bobby Brown announced her commitment to a ‘90s-inspired press tour for The Electric State, she delivered once again at the film’s photocall in Madrid.

The actress went full throwback in a patchwork denim Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2021 jacket and matching mini skirt, paired with Simmi London Anders faux suede boots trimmed in borg. It’s giving Clueless meets Never Been Kissed meets Reality Bites—but is that a good thing?

There’s no denying the nostalgic pull of this outfit. If you grew up on a diet of Josie Geller’s awkward yet endearing makeovers or Laney Boggs’ transformation into the “cool girl” via a questionable red slip dress, then Millie’s look will likely trigger some warm, fuzzy memories. It has that DIY, grunge-meets-bubblegum-pop vibe that screams ‘90s mall culture, and for that alone, I respect the commitment.

But let’s not get lost in sentimentality here. While the idea is fun, the execution feels a little… haphazard. Patchwork denim is already a tricky beast, and this set leans more “thrift store leftover bin.” The borg-trimmed boots? An odd, seasonally confused choice that doesn’t quite gel with the outfit. And while Millie’s confidence sells, I can’t shake the gimmicky feeling.

Jennifer Fisher custom silver hoops and rings from Yvonne Léon and Grace Lee completed her look.

I’ll give her an A for nostalgia.
