Nicola Coughlan, nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for her role as Penelope Featherington in the hit Netflix period drama, attended the 2025 Irish Film and Television Academy Awards on Friday in Dublin.
The actress celebrated Irish talent in true homegrown style, wearing an Irish designer—Simone Rocha. Her cold-shoulder dress from the Spring 2023 collection featured the slider straps that became a signature of the collection. It was a thoughtful nod to her roots and a designer known for whimsical, sculptural silhouettes.
Do I love this dress? She looks good—Simone Rocha’s craftsmanship rarely misses—but honestly? It won’t last long in my memory. I know Nicola can deliver a fashion moment, but this feels more like a fashion pause. Where’s the drama? The whimsy? The colour? I miss her bolder red carpet choices, and I’m ready for her to embrace vibrant hues again.
