Sunday night’s SNL50: The Anniversary Special brought out a mix of comedy legends, musical icons, and Hollywood’s finest, all serving up their takes on celebratory menswear. But as with any red carpet, some looks hit the mark, while others left us wondering if the styling team was on a well-earned break.
Yikes
Bad Bunny? Bad outfit. I usually love the singer’s style, but I’m struggling to get on board with this Saint Laurent suit. And we all know that Anthony Vaccarello is the king of contemporary tailoring, but this looks like the singer got it from an outlet store and is yet to get it tailored. And the Saint Barth x West Indies souvenir cap doesn’t make sense here either, but—shockingly—it’s not the most offensive thing about this look. It should be, but it isn’t.

The Print Prince Reigns Supreme
I’m so excited that Bowen Yang is positioning himself as the new patterned print suit red carpet aficionado. We need someone with flair to give us a break from the expected, and much like he did at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Bowen stood out in his Etro red double-breasted jacquard print suit. It’s playful, it’s eye-catching, and most importantly, it’s very him.

XXXL On The Lapels
Lapels appear to be getting wider and larger, as showcased by Chris Pine in his suit. The satin lapels span almost the width of his chest, but credit where it’s due—this is a very well-cut blazer. The execution is sleek, but I can’t help but wonder if we’re on the cusp of an ‘80s power suit resurgence. Proceed with caution.

Tom Ford Vibes
Dan Levy was channeling his inner Tom Ford in a velvet tux styled with tinted glasses. It’s moody, sophisticated, and very on-brand for him. I would’ve loved a bit more contrast in texture, (only because he is sinking into the step-and-repeat) but overall, it’s a solid entry in his consistently strong menswear game.

Sneaker Chic
I can’t say that I’m the biggest fan of sneakers with a suit, but this look fits Kenan Thompson’s vibe so perfectly that I don’t really have any complaints. It’s giving cool, relaxed, and effortless, which suits his personality to a T.

Hey Siri, Play Smooth Operator by Sade
Kevin Costner looked as smooth as butter in his custom Brioni midnight-blue three-piece tuxedo. There’s an old-school Hollywood charm here that just works—no gimmicks, no unnecessary add-ons, just pure, classic elegance.

I’m Missing That Richness
I’m not sure if it’s the lighting, but I would have preferred Nick Jonas’ Canali chocolate brown tuxedo jacket in a richer shade of brown. This particular tone isn’t doing much for his complexion, and with the right shade, this could’ve been a knockout. Manolo Blahnik Snowdon shoes completed his look.

A Masterclass in Earth Tones
And then you look at these shades of brown from Giorgio Armani’s Fall 2025 collection on Pedro Pascal, and instantly, you can see what an impact the right shades can have on people. The croc-embossed wraparound belt was enough to sell this to me alone. Earth tones have never looked more effortlessly luxe. I’m obsessed.

Smart and Sharp
Ryan Reynolds loves to do the smart laidback thing, but considering the celebratory nature of the event, the actor made a sharp statement stepping out in a Thom Sweeney midnight navy shawl lapel dinner suit. It’s a reminder that classic doesn’t have to mean boring—just well-executed.

Will I Ever Like Navy & Black?
When I see a navy and black tuxedo, I wonder if I will ever come around to the pairing like I did with brown suits, which I used to dislike. Something tells me perhaps no, but Sacha Baron Cohen does look smart in his Paul Smith suit.

Dual-Tones Done Right
Seth Rogen, alongside his wife Lauren Miller, did dual colour with flair, dressed in a custom Jil Sander by Lucie and Luke Meier Resort 2025 ivory tuxedo featuring a unique style of satin contrast black lapels, which were complemented by his solid stripe trousers. It’s a modern take on a classic contrast tux, and I’m fully on board.
Styled by Wendi Ferreira and Nicole DeJulio.
Overall, this was a bit of a mixed bag—some truly stand out moments (Bowen Yang, Pedro Pascal, Seth Rogen) alongside some misses (cough Bad Bunny cough).
