Zoe Saldana embraces avant-garde glamour at the Critics' Circle Film Awards

Zoe Saldana resumed her awards season run at the 2025 Critics’ Circle Film Awards, held at The Mayfair Hotel in London on Sunday evening. Not only did she take home the Derek Malcolm Award for Innovation, but she also won Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Pérez.

For the occasion, Zoe stepped into her avant-garde era, wearing a Maison Margiela Artisanal 2022 Haute Couture black jumbo fishnet guipure bustier dress, exquisitely embroidered with materials as unconventional as bin bags, toile à beurre, and silk gauze.

John Galliano is a master of reinvention, known for transforming everyday materials into high fashion. His meticulous craftsmanship was on full display here, with every inch of the dress showcasing his ability to merge raw elements with couture artistry. Instead of simply drawing inspiration from vintage shops and markets, Galliano and his team handpick items and breathe new life into them—creating something truly one-of-a-kind.

This is a far cry from Zoe’s usual refined elegance, but that’s exactly why I love it. She stepped outside of her comfort zone and delivered a bold, fashion-forward moment that feels fresh and exciting.

It wasn’t just the dress that was unexpected—Zoe debuted a wavy, tousled hairstyle with a hint of colour.

She completed the look with black Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela Tabi neoprene interlaced ankle-strap pumps, further solidifying this as one of her most unexpected yet striking red carpet looks to date.
