After snapping up three Fall 2025 looks before fashion month even ended, Cate Blanchett took a break from her fresh-off-the-runway spree and revisited her fashion sustainability roots with a Louis Vuitton Fall 2023 grey and red wool and satin dress for the London screening of Black Bag.
The dress might not immediately come to mind because:
a) It has been reworked since its original runway appearance, with the leather floral-embroidered sleeves replaced by red satin ones with black trim.
b) Cate wore the original version during the label’s Resort 2024 show back in May 2023, so it wouldn’t have received the same level of exposure had she worn it for one of her own projects.
Now, reworked and repurposed, it’s having its proper moment.
If you’re anything like me, you will agree that this second outing is the stronger one. The dramatic new sleeves give the look more personality and presence.
Black boots and onyx-studded earrings rounded out the look, proving once again that Cate doesn’t just rewear—she reinvents.
