Elle Fanning Wore Givenchy Haute Couture To The 2025 Oscars

Prior to Sarah Burton’s highly anticipated first runway collection for Givenchy in Paris on March 7, A Complete Unknown co-stars Elle Fanning and Timothée Chalamet gave us a sneak peek at what’s to come from the designer’s new era at the house.

For both actors, this alignment with Burton makes perfect sense—Elle and Timothée have been loyal Alexander McQueen wearers over the years, and it seems they’re ready to extend that trust to Givenchy under her direction.

Elle, ever the ethereal red carpet darling, wore a Givenchy Haute Couture white French Lyon lace and silk tulle gown featuring a molded corset, cinched with a black grosgrain bow belt. The look was directly inspired by a Hubert de Givenchy design first worn by Ivy Nicholson in 1952, proving that archival references remain central to the brand’s DNA.

This is quintessential Elle—romantic, graceful, and effortlessly poised, and given her love for vintage silhouettes and delicate embellishments this couldn’t have been a more perfect fit for her.

The look was styled with black Christian Louboutin peep-toes and a Cartier necklace, while a simple bun added to the timeless allure. If this is any indication of what’s to come, Burton’s Givenchy era is already off to a promising start.
