Homme Plissé Issey Miyake Named Guest Designer at Pitti Uomo in June

Pitti Immagine Uomo announced Issey Miyake’s Homme Plissé menswear line as “guest of honor” at its next edition in June. The Japanese brand, known for its innovative pleated designs and architectural approach to menswear, will headline a special event on Wednesday, June 18th at a yet-to-be-revealed location in Florence.

Homme Plissé doesn’t plan to return to its slot on the Paris menswear week calendar. Rather, the brand plans to “travel around the world to present its clothing in places and at events where it has never been before, meeting local communities and connecting with a global creative scene,” according to a statement Wednesday.

As the industry contends with a slowing luxury market, brands including Fendi, Gucci, and Valentino skipped standalone menswear shows last season, opting for a co-ed approach that limits costs and allows labels to speak with a unified message across genders.

Homme Plissé will continue to create collections twice a year, though “the presentations of our work will not always be defined by seasons,” the brand said.
