The 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party saw four celebrities in Valentino, with one of them reaching into the archives.
Serving up vintage Valentino Garavani magic
Of course, it was Kaia Gerber who gave us a truly heavenly moment in a cream Valentino Spring 1997 Haute Couture tiered gown with a dreamy, diaphanous cape. Designed by the master himself, Valentino Garavani, this is the kind of timeless glamour I desperately miss from the house. Maybe celebrities and stylists feel the same way, which is why they keep going into the archives. As the saying goes, they don’t make them like this anymore. Promise by EFFY jewelry completed her look.
Styled by Siena Montesano Gones.

Sheer confusion
And then there’s Hari Nef in a sheer Valentino Spring 2025 gown, complete with Alessandro Michele’s signature touches—namely, a random pink satin bow. Nothing about this works. The styling? The bow? It all feels so disjointed.

No Berluti, No BDOTY Party
While I was hoping to add another “Matt Bomer in Berluti” look to my BDOTY list, I do love this sleek custom Valentino look Alessandro Michele designed for him. It stays in his sophisticated lane with just enough flair to feel fresh. The accessories? They really sold this one to me.
Styled by Warren Alfie Baker.

Simple
Gia Coppola’s one-shoulder red ruffled Valentino Spring 2025 gown was styled with gold Valentino Garavani accessories. It’s simple, it’s elegant, it works.
