Maison Margiela had a strong showing at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, dressing three very different women in three very different looks. But did they all work?
Zipped-up minimalism
2025 is Miley Cyrus’ all-black era. We’ve seen it at the Golden Globes, Grammys, SNL50: The Anniversary Special, the Oscars, and now here. The eyebrowless singer continued her dark, moody streak in a strapless Maison Margiela Spring 2012 dress, fitted and assembled with zippers that prevented the look from feeling too one-note. Black patent Christian Louboutin x Maison Margiela Loubiella Tabi pumps and a Maison Margiela black velvet Snatched bag completed her look. While she looked good, was this too tame for Miley?

Golden goddess with a twist
Britt Lower shimmered in a Maison Margiela Artisanal Spring 2020 gold lamé bias-cut dress with black velvet abstracted leopard dots, adding an intriguing contrast of texture. The fluidity of the dress, mixed with the sharp pattern, made for a standout moment. You may remember that Shay wore a similar black version of this dress last week. Christian Louboutin x Maison Margiela black patent Loubiella Tabi pumps completed her look.

Edgy director energy
The Substance director Coralie Fargeat brought a dose of cool-woman edge in a Maison Margiela Spring 2012 leather vest, fitted and assembled with zippers, paired with black trousers. It was understated, effortlessly stylish, and totally in line with the Margiela DNA.
A diverse lineup of Margiela moments—some riskier than others. Which was your favourite?
