Sarah Paulson Wore Marc Jacobs To The 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Sarah Paulson has long been one of my red carpet favorites for her fearless approach to fashion, but even I didn’t see this Marc Jacobs Spring 2025 dress in her future.

Now, I know plenty of people will rave about this Vanity Fair Oscar Party look simply because Sarah is wearing it, and while I’m all for avant-garde risks, I’m not convinced a dress that resembles a balloon poodle sculpture with a built-in fupa was the right move. It’s whimsical, sure, but is it working? That’s another story.

And unfortunately, the view from the back doesn’t help the cause. Is that bustle supposed to be shaped like a heart?

I actually adored this look on the runway, but Sarah isn’t quite selling it to me. Something tells me that the original intended wearer was Tracee Ellis Ross—who, with her fun-loving personality and knack for making the unconventional feel effortless, would have had me fully on board.

A black clutch and Aquazzura crystal satin mesh bow pumps completed the look, but even the best accessories can’t save a dress that feels more like a party trick than a red carpet moment.

Kudos to all those involved who kept a straight face when putting this look together.
