Every time I think I can finally shelve velvet season, someone waltzes onto the red carpet and reminds me that I, in fact, cannot. Spring may have officially arrived, but Joanne Froggatt just extended the velvet lease with her appearance at the MobLand global premiere in London.
Draped in a hunter green Galvan Van Opstal crop top and maxi skirt, Joanne made a case for the fabric we’re supposed to be saying goodbye to—but when it looks this good, why would we? That deep green hue? Impossible to resist. The plush texture? Irresistible. And then she turned around, and suddenly, I fell that much deeper in love. The twisted back, the draped dip, and the way it all cascades into a train? A moment, and a reminder that velvet still has some unfinished business before we welcome the breezy chiffons of summer.
Her styling was just as impressive: diamond Bvlgari Serpenti earrings and rings that added just the right amount of sparkle and neutral makeup that kept the focus on the two-piece look.
With Downton Abbey 3 on the horizon (and set to be the final installment, no less), Joanne is gearing up for a major red carpet run. If this is how she’s starting the year, I cannot wait to see how she finishes this September.
