Just a week after news broke of poster boy Jonathan Anderson’s departure from Loewe, it was announced that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the duo behind the New York-based brand Proenza Schouler, would become the chosen successors. To say those two have big (frog-shaped, maybe?) shoes to fill in would be an understatement, but we have no doubt those two will thrive in creating Loewe’s future.

As we wait for fashion’s worst-kept secret to be revealed, and for the duo’s debut collection at the Spanish House, we’re placing bets on what to expect from this new chapter. Keep reading to discover 5 things we’re excited about McCollough and Hernandez’s potential at Loewe.

A true marker of success at any brand is their ability to create a top-selling accessory, and considering the duo’s track record, it’s no surprise why they were picked. The New York-based brand became synonymous with effortless style thanks to its uber successful PS1 bag, adopted by womenswear and menswear aficionados all round in the early 2010s. After all, the duo did win the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year Award in 2009.

What does a New York City woman travelling first class to spend a week in the French capital dress like? Something tells us this new chapter of Loewe will give us the answer to that question. Since its inception in the late 2000s and its popularisation in the 2010s, Proenza Schouler has been New York’s fashion darling, thanks to its ability to create everlasting, luxurious pieces that feel extremely modern – a socialite’s dream, if you will. At Loewe, we have a sneaky feeling the extent of luxurious creativity is about to take over wardrobes worldwide.

Bets are now open on who will be FROW at their debut show.

Under Anderson’s creative leadership, Loewe has become synonymous with a fun, quirky aesthetic without compromising its luxurious nature. And while we’re not expecting McCollough and Hernandez to send down frog wellies down the runway, the duo could lean on their expertise in unexpected cuts to create silhouettes that border on the bizarre and the avant-garde.
