Following her retro moment earlier in the day, Blake Lively stepped out for the London screening of Another Simple Favor at the Ham Yard Hotel on Tuesday evening — and this time, things took a rather unexpected turn.
The actress, who practically wrote the press tour playbook with her themed wardrobes — suits for A Simple Favor, florals for It Ends With Us — seems to be taking a more freestyle approach this time around. This press tour isn’t about one clear fashion direction; it’s more about wearing what she feels like in the moment, which is refreshing… if slightly disorienting for those of us who love to spot a pattern.
Her David Koma Fall 2025 leather coat with a fringed skirt was a bold choice. It doesn’t tie into anything we’ve seen previously on this tour, nor does it lean into the high-octane glamour we’ve come to expect from Blake — and that’s saying something considering her look is still head-to-toe leather with Christian Louboutin Lipstrass Botta Alta thigh-high boots. But overall, this felt a little more lowkey by Blake’s standards.
I do really love the coat itself — it’s got that cool-girl edge and brings a modern, directional twist to her look. That said, the fit feels slightly off. It looked a touch too oversized, which dulled the sharpness of the silhouette. Had she gone for the Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2024 double-breasted leather coat instead, with its beautifully tailored structure, I think this would’ve been a total slam dunk.
As for the hair — soft, glossy waves cascading down — it actually worked here. If it were the McQueen coat, I might’ve championed a sleek ponytail, but with the fit of this David Koma piece, the hair down will distract from the fit.
