Cate Blanchett Louis Vuitton Fall 2015 80s print The Olivier Awards 2025

Considering Cate Blanchett’s distinguished theatre career, we really shouldn’t be surprised that she showed up to support the nominees at The Olivier Awards 2025, held at the ever-regal Royal Albert Hall in London. But were we ready for her to roll in wearing a Louis Vuitton Fall 2025 jacquard knit turtleneck and pleated skirt ensemble that sent us into a glorious spiral of ‘80s nostalgia? Not even slightly.

Let’s talk about that pattern. My first thought? The London Underground or a vintage bus seat cover (you know the one). Closely followed by memories of those preppy, affluent Yuppie sweaters or something your quirky-but-brilliant 1980s art teacher would wear while sipping black coffee and discussing Bauhaus.

And yet—despite all these wild associations—Cate looks amazing. Truly, only she could make retro carpeting couture. The look was cool, nonchalant, and unapologetically throwback, especially when paired with her shades. As a child of the ‘80s myself, I adore the print. It’s chaotic in the best way.
