Da’Vine Joy Randolph attended The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Los Angeles Awards on Thursday, where she presented her stylists Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald with the Men’s Stylist of the Year award—a well-deserved nod to the duo behind hers, and Colman Domingo’s standout looks.

The Oscar winner opted for a Willy Chavarria Fall 2025 burgundy satin coat dress with a high collar. Intriguing? Yes. Impactful? Less so. On the runway, the look had a commanding presence, full of structure and sharpness. On the red carpet? The satin fabric didn’t quite hold up, crumbling in a way that softened the intended silhouette.

The runway styling—knee-high tights and all—hinted at a stronger fashion moment, so I was hoping for something with a bit more bite. And given the context of her presenting an award for menswear styling, how fun would it have been to see her in one of the collection’s bolder menswear looks? A sharp tailored moment or an oversized suit could have made for an unexpected but fabulous twist, especially from someone known for bringing all-out glamour. This wasn’t a bad look by any means—it just left me wanting more.
