After months of rumours circulating, it’s official: the former LOEWE lead Jonathan Anderson is heading over to Dior.
Everybody stop what you’re doing: Jonathan Anderson has just been appointed as the new creative director of Dior Men, succeeding Kim Jones. The Irish designer, founder of his namesake brand J.W. Anderson, has left LOEWE, where he held the position of creative director since 2013.
Over the past decade, Anderson transformed the Spanish House into one of fashion’s most relevant brands today (think of the Challengers “I TOLD YA” tee). Proving this very point, LOEWE has consistently ranked in the top three of Lyst’s Index since 2023 — an incredible feat considering the industry’s “in one day, out the other” unspoken policy. Not only did he propel LOEWE into the limelight of fashion relevancy, but some of his recent highlights also include winning the CFDA International Designer of the Year Award in 2023 and the BFA Designer of the Year Award two years in a row, in 2023 and 2024.
The rumours of his departure were fuelled by his emotional bow at the Spring/Summer 2025 LOEWE runway show. Guests, too, were filled with tears in their eyes, while many industry insiders and partners gave the designer a standing ovation — a clear sign of a momentous occasion in the world of fashion.
Now heading to one of the most prestigious Parisian Maison, Anderson is stepping into the shoes of Kim Jones, Dior Men’s former Creative Director. As it stands, Maria Grazia Chiuri still holds the reins of the women’s division, despite speculation that the Irish designer might also take over the front. Anderson’s first collection for Dior Men is set to be unveiled this June during Paris Fashion Week.
