Kerry Washington shimmered in gold at the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards, held at The Lot at Formosa in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
We’ve all seen how restyling a neckline of a look can go drastically wrong. But Kerry rolled the dice and landed on a six as the drapery of the fringes along the neckline presented a far more fluid and sensual effect. The double loop we saw on the runway, would have been overwhelming on her.
What didn’t quite make the cut for me was the hair. A centre-parted low frizzy ponytail could’ve worked beautifully for a retro look, but paired with the modern elegance of the dress, it felt disconnected. The Messika white and silver jewellery also didn’t quite gel with the warmth of the gold.
So while Kerry nailed the dress, the finishing touches left me wanting a more cohesive story – gold pumps excluded.
