Matilda De Angelis attends "La Vita Da Grandi" photocall dressed in McQueen Spring 2025 cutaway houndstooth coat

Matilda De Angelis knows how to serve range — both on screen and on the red carpet. The Italian star has been busy promoting her latest film La Vita da Grandi, directed by Greta Scarano, and she’s taken us on a style journey with back-to-back looks that couldn’t be more different.

Milan Photocall

She kicked things off in Milan with a killer McQueen cutaway coat that married the timelessness of a houndstooth pattern with McQueen’s signature razor-sharp edge, thanks to a contemporary cutaway design. Paired with a crisp white collared shirt, it was giving us structure, polish, and just a hint of rebellion. I know some of you clocked those loose threads and thought, “Wait, is that unfinished?” But rest assured, this was no wardrobe malfunction. The distressed detail is a deliberate design choice straight from the runway. Basically, it’s a little punk rock sewn in. After Michael B. Jordan’s Yohji Yamamoto look from last week, I guess loose threads are trending.

Rome Premiere

Then came Rome, and with it, an entirely different energy. Gone was the sharp tailoring, and in came soft romance. Matilda wore a white Fendi floral jacquard jacket and trouser set that whispered elegance. Sure, some might get a pyjama-adjacent feeling — and considering how long the PJ trend held the red carpet hostage, that’s fair — but this look stayed safely on the chic side. Her rosy makeup, sparkly shoes, and the well-tailored silhouette made sure we weren’t confusing this with bedtime wear. Had the pieces been oversized, we might’ve drifted into nap territory.

Matilda showed us two sides of her fashion coin last week: sharp and slick in Milan, soft and romantic in Rome — and honestly, I love both.
