Michael B. Jordan Yohji Yamamoto Fall 2003 deconstructed suit 'Sinners' Mexico City Premiere

Leading man in both film and fashion, Michael B. Jordan joined Hailee Steinfeld for the Sinners premiere in Mexico City on Monday, and let’s just say—he wasn’t playing it safe.

While Michael has been known for his sleek, polished suiting, he took a detour down the avant-garde route, stepping out in a Yohji Yamamoto Fall 2003 archival suit. That’s right—we have our first male entry into our archival looks of 2025.

Yohji Yamamoto has always been a master of deconstruction, and this suit is no exception. Gone are the crisp, conventional lines we’re used to seeing on Michael; instead, we get a deliberately unfinished, fragmented creation that challenges everything we think we know about menswear. Threads are left exposed, stitching is uneven, and the suit appears to be in a constant state of transformation—as if it’s either being built up or torn apart before our very eyes. It’s chaotic, it’s rebellious, and it’s effortlessly cool. This look is a fascinating shift for Michael.

Much like the film, Sinners, which explores themes of moral ambiguity and transformation, Michael’s deconstructed Yohji Yamamoto suit embodies a raw, unfinished quality that mirrors a world in flux.

When it comes to the suit itself, it feels like Yohji is making a statement on the idea of “perfect craftsmanship,” proving that sometimes, imperfection takes even more skill to execute. There’s a rawness to this suit, a kind of beautiful disorder that only works when done with intent.

Finishing off the look, Michael added David Yurman jewels and a pair of Maison Margiela Tabi boots—because if you’re going to push fashion boundaries, you might as well go from head-to-toe.

This unexpected choice is a major win for Michael. Do you agree?
