Olivia DeJonge Chanel feather gown Spring 2025 'The Narrow Road To The Deep North' Sydney Premiere

It’s been a minute since Olivia DeJonge graced a red carpet, with her last major outing being the 2022 Elvis press tour. But she’s back, and she’s making quite the impression at the premiere of her new film The Narrow Road To The Deep North in Australia.

For her return, Olivia opted for a high-drama moment in a caped white gown from Chanel’s Spring 2025 collection, adorned with feathers and topped off with a sweet, oversized bow. It’s a look that flirts with vintage glamour while floating somewhere between celestial and swan-like.

If the dress feels familiar, that’s because Rose Byrne wore this very same gown to the Berlin Film Festival for The Thing with Feathers. Thematically on point, yes, but Rose’s execution didn’t quite soar for me. When the hands disappear into the cape, the whole thing starts to resemble a duvet cover with delusions of grandeur.

Olivia, however, gives the look fresh perspective. With her hands visible and her pose controlled, the cape and gown feel like two distinct elements in perfect harmony rather than one feathery blur. There’s a clarity here that Rose’s rendition lacked. Olivia brings just the right amount of poise to keep the look from becoming too costume-y or overwhelming.

It’s elegant, it’s ethereal, and most importantly, it feels like Olivia’s reintroduction to the fashion spotlight is a confident one. Here’s hoping this is the first of many more red carpet moments from her this year.
