The Housemaid, set for a Christmas 2025 release, made its presence known at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, with Sydney Sweeney front and center. And while I have long maintained that there is no such thing as overdressing for a photocall, Sydney may have just tested the limits of that theory.
Dressed in a Wiederhoeft Spring 2025 strapless silver satin corseted gown, Sydney delivered full-scale Hollywood glamour. This wasn’t just a photocall look—it was a Jessica Rabbit makes an appearance at the Oscars kind of moment. The hair? Old Hollywood waves. The fabric? Liquid silver. The effect? A bombshell ready to take on the world. And yet…
CinemaCon, historically, is a more casual affair. Think chic but relaxed—fashion-forward but not red carpet ready. Sydney’s look felt like it was meant for a grander occasion. A premiere, a major awards night, or even the film’s first red carpet debut would have been a perfect match for this level of drama. But for a convention event where the industry gathers to discuss upcoming films? It felt a little too polished, and too predictable for Sydney.
We know she can do effortless press tour chic—she’s nailed it countless times before. And this could’ve been the moment for her to switch it up. A power suit? Instead, we got full-on red carpet bombshell, which, while beautiful and on brand, didn’t work for the occasion.
