Clarks continues its relationship with Raheem Sterling.
The storied footwear brand announced this week that the famed footballer player would serve as its global brand ambassador. Sterling, who was born in Jamaica and raised in the UK, previously connected with Clarks on a limited run of desert boots and Wallabees, and was also tapped to star in the brand’s short film that celebrated Jamaica.
“Jamaican culture stills plays a huge part in my life and there is not a shoe or brand that can come close to Clarks in Jamaica,” Sterling said in a statement. “To me, Clarks represents culture and that’s why I wanted to work with the brand in a big way. My first project with Clarks Originals made such an impact both in the UK and Jamaica that I knew I wanted to do something much more significant with the brand and I’m excited for everyone to see what we’re working on.”
Under his role, Sterling will help design Clarks products, star in campaigns, and come up with “innovative ways to give back to the communities in both England and Jamaica.” According to Clarks, Sterling will release his first range as brand ambassador sometime in July. The athlete and shoe-specialist have not provided specific details on what’s to come; however, Sterling told fans, “Huge things are lined-up and I cannot wait to share more.”
