Contrary to this whole serve, the above photos are not from year 2001, but rather Monday, July 11, when the actor attended the premiere of Where the Crawdads Sing in New York City. The film, adapted from Delia Owen’s best-selling novel of the same name, was produced by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine after the actor featured it in Reese’s Book Club in 2018, per Variety.
Speaking to ET at the premiere, Witherspoon called making the film a “dream come true.”

Witherspoon shared a video of her getting ready for the premiere to Instagram, set to a remix of Natasha Bedingfield’s 2004 banger “Unwritten.” In the video, she hugs the novel, which is a very normal activity for a Harvard Law graduate and also a Hollywood film executive.
