2022 D23 Expo was the Ultimate Disney Fan Event which was held at the Anaheim Convention Center from September 9th through the 11th, where a host of celebrities promoted their upcoming Disney TV shows and films.
Tracee Ellis Ross was inducted into the Disney Hall of Fame, a program that recognises individuals who have made major contributions to the Walt Disney Company over the years.
She brought plenty of sparkle and style to the event wearing a Sportmax Fall 2022 blush coloured dress with Louboutins to match.
‘Snow White’
Gal Gadot (Evil Queen) was tuned into the trend for semi-sheer styles with this jumpsuit from Roland Mouret (who will be making his return this Fall).
We know the designer for his signature origami folds, but could this design – with skin-revealing mesh panels – be an indication that we’re about to witness a total change of direction?
I guess we will have to wait and see.
Rachel Zegler (Snow White) joined her co-star at this event wearing a Fendi Fall 2022 look styled with Jimmy Choo ‘Mimi’ platforms.
I like the idea of this look on Rachel. Preppy with a slight edge.
‘The Little Mermaid’
Of all the film and TV shows on this list, Halle Bailey’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ is the one I am definitely going to see, as the original film is my favourite Disney animated film of all time.
Seeing the reactions to just the trailer has me even more excited.
Halle wore a flame orange Rasario strapless dress with a pair of butterfly accented sandals that I’m obsessed with.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water’
Finally, we have a Zoe Saldana promo tour on the horizon.
I’m excited for this despite not being a huge fan of those heavy over-the-knee boots with this Bottega Veneta Fall 2022 look.
She should’ve really opted for sandals or pumps here.
It’s not a case of Zoe having to wear the full runway look, because Sophie Okonedo was able to style her look from the same collection during the Toronto Film Festival.
‘The Marvels’
Brie Larson meant business at this event wearing a Celine by Hedi Slimane navy suit which you might think is too formal for a Disney event, but since I haven’t loved many Celine outings lately, I’m appreciating the tailoring on this occasion.
‘Wish’
Ariana DeBose presented two looks during this event.
The first was a Naeem Khan Fall 2020 star sequin top styled with white trousers and P448 Thea sneakers.
It’s clear that these trousers have been tailored, but I don’t understand why they are still too long.
You may remember that Kylie Minogue wore the star embellished jumpsuit from this same collection back in January 2021.
Ariana, who is the lead actress in ‘Wish,’ performed at the event wearing a custom Safiyaa blackberry silk chiffon gown.
‘Pinocchio’
Like Ariana, Cynthia Erivo performed at this event.
We didn’t get her usual flare from this Alex Perry strapless dress, but it’s giving “Disney performance” so it fulfilled its purpose.
‘Star Wars: Andor’
Adria Arjona wore a Loewe molded top and tailored trousers from the Fall 2022 collection.
The top does have an element of vacuum contents feel to it, but I love the structure of the top and the elegance of the trousers.
‘Peter Pan & Wendy’
Ever Anderson, who is the face of Miu Miu, wore a look from the Fall 2022 collection.
She has the edge to pull this off, but I’m hopeful that Miu Miu can create some better looks for her once the promo tour rolls around.
‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’
Letitia Wright kicked off her promo tour wearing a Et Ochs Pricilla denim eyelet trim mini dress from the Resort 2023 collection which showcased her love for the mini dress, heavy boots combo.
Angela Bassett was not to be missed in this Pertegaz hot-pink suit.
‘Elio & Olga’
America Ferrera made a return to the red carpet wearing an A.L.C. Addie one-shoulder pleated vegan leather and shell midi dress styled with Jennifer Meyer jewels.
Cut-outs aren’t America’s usual style, but I love how she gave us something unexpected, which she wears so well.
‘Strange World’
Lucy Liu wore a Bach Mai’s ‘Cyclamen’ dress from the Resort 2023 collection styled with Roger Vivier platforms.
I adore the print, but I’m not totally sold on the oversized babydoll silhouette.
‘Disenchanted’
Maya Rudolph wore a pretty Saloni ‘Jamie’ black and white polka dress embellished with crystal bows which was a fun look for this event.
It’s almost like she is playing homage to one of Disney’s most loved characters, Minnie Mouse.
Amy Adams kept things more business-like in this maroon suit.
