The New York Ballet 2022 Fall Fashion Gala was held at the David H. Koch Theater on Wednesday (September 28) in New York City.
For an event with the name “fashion” in the title, I was a little underwhelmed by some of the red carpet looks.
That is, for course, with the exception of Jordan Roth who never disappoints.
In fact, this Balenciaga Spring 2022 gloved turtleneck top and ball skirt is quite casual for the American theatre producer who regularly brings art to life on the red carpet with his favourite stage a coin flip between the Tony Awards and the Met Gala.
I love seeing fashion showcased through his whimsical vision which he amps up on this occasion with an orbit-style neckpiece and fantastical makeup.
And then we have Billy Porter, who I believe is going through an existential crisis when it comes to fashion.
This Giles Deacon Fall 2013 printed dress is giving fancy nightgown.
Yesterday he was on the team too much, today it’s not nearly enough. He needs a team that can help him find a happy medium.
When it comes to Laverne Cox. This Iris Van Herpen Fall 2017 Haute Couture halter dress is easily her best EVER red carpet look.
I don’t even need to look back on her past red carpet looks to confirm this.
Thankfully she has fully shed the Beyonce/Sasha Fierce tribute act and stepped into her own light and modern times.
It’s been WELL overdue.
I’m not the biggest fan of Julia Fox’s style these days, however, I’m impressed by how much fabric she was serving up in this Zac Posen gown.
The gown appears to be a silver metallic version of the same gown Sarah Jessica Parker wore to the 2019 New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala.
I don’t love it, but I can’t deny how well she’s serving up this tin foil gown.
I love how the modifications were made to Kristin Davis’ Monique Lhuillier Fall 2022 gown.
Transforming the cloak to a cape really opened up the look.
Kristin accessorised with Fred Leighton Jewels and Sarah Flint Mihaela sandals.
While I didn’t want Claire Danes to present a totally sheer version of this Oscar de la Renta floral applique dress from the Fall 2022 collection, I’m disappointed at where the under-layer stops.
I will never understand this practice.
