Kate Middleton, the newly minted Princess of Wales, and Camilla Parker Bowles, the newly minted Queen consort, are expected to wear tiaras when the newly minted King Charles III hosts his first state visit in November, People reports.
Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III will host Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, and his wife, Dr. Tshepo Motsepe, during their visit to the United Kingdom in late November, marking Charles’s first state visit as king. Under her reign, Queen Elizabeth oversaw the state visit banquets and it is likely that King Charles III will follow in his mother’s footsteps.
The visit will likely include a dinner at Buckingham Palace hosted by the royal family, meaning that working royals will wear their royal best. For Princess Kate and Queen Camilla, that means tiaras.
Kate Middleton has worn a tiara a few times over the past decade. The first time the Princess of Wales wore a tiara was on her wedding day in 2011, when she wore the Cartier Halo tiara. She has also worn a tiara for several state visits, including a visit from Chinese president Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan in 2015. The last time Middleton wore a tiara was for a reception hosted by the queen at Buckingham Palace for members of the Diplomatic Corps in December 2019.
