The French fashion house presents its new women’s collection at the Musée du Louvre’s Cour Carrée in Paris.

The Louvre in Paris is perhaps one of Europe’s most beloved marvels: something that can be observed and enjoyed yet never fully accessed. It evokes a similar feeling to the thrill of circus acts to Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière, whose admiration for the finite nature of performance and entertainment sparked the inspiration behind Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2023 women’s collection.

With the notion that something can astound at night time and be gone by the morning, Louis Vuitton showcases a breathtaking flower set designed by Philippe Parreno — allowing the magic of the new collection to blossom, in a temporary setting that makes the exclusivity and luxury of the line all the more palpable. Watched and adored by the likes of Maude, Leslie and Iris Apatow and Jennifer Connolly, the quintessential figures of every generation came to witness the collection come to life — continuing Louis Vuitton’s legacy as a a family that binds us by its people, its ideals and its forever evolving approach to fashion.

Forming a collection of enlarged red petals that span above the runway, Louis Vuitton emphasises the femininity at the core of the fashion house. Honing in on the essence of femininity, the SS23 collection zooms into its codes, depicting its complexity with the addition of buckles, zips and locks. Viewing the capsule as something to open up and enjoy, the pieces play on this theme, featuring buckle prints and enlarged zip handle accents that invite play and performance into elegant mini dresses and suit cuts. Disrupting the conventional themes of femininity, the collection welcomes a new narrative where the infinitely large and infinitely small come together as if kismet in the silhouettes — creating a narrative for women’s clothing that is totally new. Much like the flower, the collection represents a blossoming of ideals, the end of one way of thinking into another — transitioning as seamlessly as night into morning.
