Trina is the 2022 recipient of the BET “I Am Hip Hop” Award
On Tuesday, the BET Hip Hop Awards hosted the industry’s best in an honoring of legendary rapper, producer, TV personality, and entrepreneur, Trina, as the recipient of the 2022 I Am Hip Hop Award. The award show included performances from French Montana, Joey Bada$$, and Pusha T, in a celebration of the year’s best hip hop music. “I am honored to receive and accept the 2022 I Am Hip Hop Award presented by BET,” shares Trina. “As a legend with over 20 years in the music industry, consistency and unity have contributed to my Rockstarr power as a ‘femcee’. I believe when one woman wins, whether it’s in front of the camera or behind the scenes, we all win. Let’s keep winning!”
Ever since her music debut in 1998 featuring on Trick Daddy’s classic Hip Hop anthem “NANN,” Trina has continued to solidify herself as a hip hop maven with her ever-growing discography of six albums, including her latest release in 2019 with The One. In addition to her albums, the female emcee has also released four EPs as well as 13 mixtapes. Her 2011 mixtape, Diamonds Are Forever, has become one of the genre’s most applauded bodies of work. Earlier this year, Trina headlined in the Legendz of the Streetz Tour alongside Rick Ross, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, and Lil Kim.
The female rap trailblazer has extended herself into her role as a founder of the record label, Rockstarr Music Group, while also pronouncing herself as an entrepreneur by partnering with six-generation deep, Black-owned spirit company, NYAK Cognac. The multifaceted creative has also become a star in television, with her appearance in the BET film, Dear Best Friend, as well as her current role in the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Miami. Trina is also a current co-host of The TNT Show, a radio show dominating the airwaves of 99Jamz in Miami.
