Here is the roundup from the 5th annual Wearable Art Gala honouring Angela Bassett and Mark Bradford was held at the Barker Hangar on Saturday (October 22) in Santa Monica, California, where a host of celebrities joined Beyonce, Lori Harvey, Halle Bailey and Lupita Nyong’o.
I have to start with Marsai Martin who looked amazing wearing this Julian Mendez Couture creation which had just about everything.
An elaborate headpiece, crystal embellishments, a puffy train and feather accented gloves.
It might have an everything but the kitchen sink feel about it, but it was the perfect look for this event.
She absolutely nailed it for me. I might have to re-crown the best dressed at this event.
Angela Bassett, who was one of the honourees on the night, wore a 1920s flapper inspired look wearing a Georges Hobeika Fall 2022 Couture embellished dress styled with Flor de Maria sandals and JUSTDESI Jewelry.
Much like Marasi, there is a lot going on, but in this case, I don’t find this look visually pleasing.
The green tulle coat is my least favourite thing about this look. The colour specifically.
Kelly Rowland gave us old Hollywood glamour wearing a red Monsoori gown styled with JUSTDESI jewels.
Michelle Williams looked pretty, but she didn’t really get into the spirit of the event for me wearing this Badgley Mischka dress.
Credit to Keke Palmer’s stylist Shiona Turini and hairstylist Alexander Armand who created this Dorothy Dandridge inspired look.
The actress, who hosted the event, was very much on theme wearing a Saint Laurent feathered accented dress .
Chloe Bailey wore a beautiful Aje Manifestation dress, but I didn’t quite get the thigh accessory.
Mach & Mach crystal embellished pumps completed her look.
This was a great theme for Andra Day, but she played it safe in this Georges Hobeika Fall 2022 Couture gown.
I’m not mad as this is one of her best looks in a long while.
Sarah Flint Perfect Mihaela heels completed her look.
Issa Rae opted for a Bronx and Banco Farah feather trimmed dress styled with Manolo Blahnik Laali sandals.
I would’ve preferred a very simple pair of sandals with a dress this detailed, but at least she was on theme.
