Remember when Kylie Jenner tried to tell everyone she’d never had her lips done and just over-lined them? Well, since building a beauty brand on her puffy pout and lip kits, the youngest KarJenner has kept her defining feature more or less stable…until now. In her latest Instagram photoshoot, Kylie Jenner has revolutionized the lip wear game yet again, innovating a style sure to pop up on the catwalks of 2023: the purposeful smear.

Posing in what can only be described as lingerie plus, the mother of two checked out her reflection in the mirrored walls of what looks like a hotel elevator. “Going up?” she asked in the caption.

Her makeup look here is super dewy: red lip liner plus tons of gloss, and equally shiny eyelids. Vaseline? Glossier? Her own latest product? Not sure, but it’s quite the effect.

In a subsequent post, she wrote, “love you mean it,” and posed against a blank wall. Tap through the slides here to see her wipe her lip color onto her cheeks and then taste it. In the video at the end, set to SZA’s “Kill Bill,” she demonstrates the art of the smudge, how to achieve that “just made out” look. For whatever it’s worth, the same video is on her TikTok with the caption “oops.”

Jenner recently reflected on her almost-decade in the beauty industry, celebrating seven years of Kylie Cosmetics with a heartfelt message to her employees and customers: “thank you for all the love throughout the years, this wouldn’t have been possible without the support from all of you. the best memories! from the pop ups to the crazy sell out days that would stress me out haha, to breaking records together and setting trends. Kylie Cosmetics allowed me to share a piece of what i love and i’ve never felt closer to you guys. i’m proud of my team and what we have been able to accomplish but i really owe it all to each and every one of you. i cannot wait for 2023. best year to come 💗”

We also cannot wait for her 2023 lip experiments. Should be educational.
