As much as I love a good, venue-inappropriate celebrity fashion moment, there’s something deeply refreshing about the super-casual ‘fits that Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso wore on a date night at a New York Knicks game on January 5 at Madison Square Garden.
Unlike many an A-lister photographed sitting court-side at an NBA game, Barroso kept her look extremely low-key with a plain white tank, loose hair, and an oversized Knicks cap. Her husband opted for a black long-sleeve T-shirt and rectangle-framed dad glasses. According to People, other celebrities in attendance included Judd Apatow and his daughter Iris, and David Harbour and his step-daughter Ethel. (See the pics here.)
Smiling and waving for the cameras, the couple appeared to be having a blast on their night out—perhaps because they were unencumbered by designer jackets draped artfully and uncomfortably over their elbows as is de rigueur among the Gen-Z influencer crowd (and also Adele). Back in February of 2022, Barroso opted for a similarly laid back and sporting-event appropriate look at the Super Bowl, wearing a blue T-shirt and white jeans.

While Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso kept it caszh for the game, they know how to clean up when the occasion calls for it. On December 4, the spouses attended the 45th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington D.C., with Damon looking dashing in a classic blue suit and Barroso the picture of elegance in a floor-length black gown with on-trend sheer sleeves.
Sometimes dressing for the occasion just means dressing down.
