I’m not sure I’ve seen a chicer take on sheer than on emerging It-Girl Taylor Russell at Paris Fashion Week. The Bones and All actor was photographed outside the Loewe show over the weekend wearing a sheer turtleneck color-matched to her skin tone under a matching see-through jacket. She paired the top with leather trousers bedecked in punky silver hardware and carried a black mini-bag. Russell finished the look with extremely of-the-moment narrow shades and a high-fashion pout.
Newly liberated nipples have been having their way with red carpets and the front rows of runway shows lately as the sheer trend has migrated from skirts and illusion cut-outs to full-frontal tops and bodices. Everyone from Florence Pugh to Allison Janney has gone braless in sheer recently and I, for one, would like to see more of it, please.
She’s perhaps not yet a household name, but Russell has already become a style icon for the fashion-minded thanks to her consistently daring and pitch-perfect red carpet looks. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she described her approach to fashion as a chance to play around. “I feel like a little kid being able to do all this stuff that I’m doing right now,” Russell said. “‘Why not just run around that playground?’ is how I feel. Let’s see how it shifts and evolves.”
The ability to evolve is also how Russell described the best artists, saying in the same interview, “The good ones, you can tell that their life is evolving throughout the decades because they’re interested in different things.”
