Here is a rundown of all the menswear red carpet looks from the 2022 Oscars from Sunday (March 27), joining Timothée Chalamet.
‘The Power of the Dog’ actor Kodi Smit-McPhee went for a baby blue Bottega Veneta suit accented with Cartier High Jewelry.
It was a bold choice colour wise. And I love that he didn’t opt for black shoes, as they would’ve ruined this look for me.
Kodi is proving to be a contender for one of the Best Dressed Men of the year.
Simu Liu also opted out of wearing black on Oscar night.
The Marvel star has always had a thing for burgundy suits, but on this occasion he wore a red custom Atelier Versace suit to the Oscars.
This single-breasted suit with golden Medusa buttons is a custom Atelier variation of a silhouette from the Versace Spring 2022 collection.
While I like the Medusa-Biggie harness detail across a white shirt, I’m not entirely sold on the black bowtie, even though he wore black loafers.
An Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra watch created in full 18K yellow gold completed his look.
While we love those who step outside the box, we also love a classic.
Shawn Mendes wore a Dolce & Gabbana double-breasted Martini cut suit with lush satin peak lapels over a white tuxedo shirt with black studs.
He completed his look with a classic satin bow tie, a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony watch and classic Christian Louboutin Greggo shoes.
Andrew Garfield, who was nominated for his role as Jonathan Larson in ‘Tick, Tick…BOOM!,’ wore an OMEGA Speedmaster ’57 timepiece with his luxe burgundy velvet Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket.
I love how he opted to shun the classic white shirt for a black silk satin shirt with a Yves collar paired with a skinny bow tie.
Sebastian Yatra is making me have second thoughts about having reservations regarding Simu Liu’s black bow tie with his red suit, because I love the pink and black combination presented in this custom Moschino Couture suit.
Pink isn’t an easy colour to pull off as a full suit, but Sebastian looked both charming and handsome.
I think there may have been a slight element of tongue-in-cheek about this look, but I love it nonetheless.
Cartier jewels completed the singers look.
The ‘King Richard’ Oscar winner Will Smith ended his awards season run as expected wearing a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo.
His Made to Measure black mohair wool tuxedo was styled with a classic ascot in black silk satin and a Cartier earring.
Javier Bardem, who is nominated for playing Ricky Ricardo in ‘Being the Ricardos,’ wore a beautiful navy ZEGNA suit. I’m in awe when it comes to embroidery on the jacket.
Jake Gyllenhaal, who hasn’t really set your heart a flutter with the looks from his ‘Ambulance’ promo tour, was looking very handsome in all-black Givenchy suit styled with a Santos de Cartier necklace and Cartier Privé Tank Chinoise watch both in 18k yellow gold.
Benedict Cumberbatch was another ‘The Power of the Dog’ nominee. The British actor served up no surprises wearing a classic Giorgio Armani black one-button peak lapel tuxedo trimmed in satin which he styled with Santoni shoes.
Sophie Hunter, his ever so elegant plus one, continued her love affair with all things Dior, wearing a Dior Spring 2020 Haute Couture ‘cloud’ dress in tulle and fishnet featuring a braided, draped and embroidered with a turbulent sky in woven graphite threads, with a pen-and-ink drawing effect.
You might be thinking that Rami Malek always looks the same, and never takes chances, but he did look dapper in a classic Prada black tuxedo.
A jeweled lapel pin, watch, ring, and cufflinks from Cartier completed his look.
Jamie Dornan wore a custom Valentino tuxedo. Unfortunately, it looks two sizes too big for him. But this appears to be deliberate, as all these looks have had this oversized look and feel to them this awards season.
An OMEGA Constellation timepiece completed his look.
David Oyelowo opted to showcase his African pride wearing a neon-floral suit by Kutula.
His colourful look was styled with Dolce & Gabbana loafers, which some might feel as overkill, but I can confirm that this is a very typical African uncle look, so I’ll give him a pass.
I have been really frustrated with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau style of late. When I look at the trousers on his Dolce & Gabbana suit, that frustration continues.
An IWC timepiece completed his look.
Daniel Kaluuya, who was a former Oscar winner presenting on the night, made a statement with this bright green Gucci blazer.
Jimmy Choo ‘Finnion’ shoes and Boucheron jewels completed his look.
I wanted to see him keep the same energy from the BAFTAs, and he did.
Wilmer Valderrama stood out in his Dolce & Gabbana green-trimmed navy, velvet tuxedo with a jeweled lapel pin and Omega timepiece.
Samuel L. Jackson walked the red carpet with his beautiful wife, Latanya Jackson, wearing a Giorgio Armani velvet aubergine double-breasted evening jacket trimmed in satin.
Jason Momoa wore a traditional Henry Poole & Co. suit, styled with Sacred Skulls Jewelry.
Kourtney Kardashian wore a vintage Mugler styled with Aquazzura ‘Perfect Kiss’ sandals. While her beau Travis Barker wore a Maison Margiela tuxedo.
Kevin Jonas wore an all navy Brunello Cucinelli tux.
Riz Ahmed was joined on the red carpet with his partner Fatima Farheen Mirza.
The British actor, who picked up the Live Action Short Film Award on the night, wore a ZEGNA made-to-measure oversized suit.
The tailoring of this suit didn’t make it appear like he was wearing a suit too big for him, unlike Jamie Doran.
Boucheron jewels completed Riz’s look.
The only thing missing from Bradley Cooper’s Gucci look was some grooming. His hair looked so unkempt.
