The last label roundup features Cara Delevingne, Michelle Yeoh, Carla Bruni, Amber Valletta, Alton Mason, Brian Tyree Henry, and Manu Rios who celebrated the 2023 Met Gala in honour of design icon Karl Lagerfeld.
Jared Leto, who wore two Karl Lagerfeld looks on the night, has already been featured.
The celebrities wore a mix of looks including bespoke and archive pieces alongside the brands latest Pre-Fall ‘Ultimate Icon Collection’ which draws inspiration from Karl’s extensive archives and, specifically, his legendary sketches.
Cara Delevingne’s look reimagines Karl Lagerfeld’s white shirt in an outspoken shirt dress with a dramatic train.
From the grey hair, fingerless gloves, leather leggings and Stuart Weitzman shoes, you know that Karl would’ve been very proud of Cara – his muse – in this Couture look.
Karl Lagerfeld’s quintessential white shirt was part of this signature tuxedo-dressing look, which so many made part of their red carpet looks to pay homage to the designer, but Cara’s stood out for me.
Michelle Yeoh also paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic tuxedo look in the elegant fashion we’ve become accustomed to from the Oscar winner.
From the exaggerated sleeves to the open shirt neckline, this was the perfect marriage of old Hollywood with new era which was a custom creation by the labels design director Hun Kim.
This is the one occasion where I’m not irrationally bothered by her Richard Mille timepiece, as it complements her Cartier jewels.
We’ve seen many tributes to Karl Lagerfeld’s signature tuxedo, his cat, leather fingerless gloves and shades, but Amber Valletta’s look was inspired by the designer’s other signature accessory: his fan.
Oozing with goddess-like glamour, the model glided down the red carpet wearing a diaphanous cut-out gown with a fan pleated bodice.
I have a feeling that many won’t be on board with this due to the sheerness, but I like how this wasn’t a predictable look.
Carla Bruni also paid homage to the designer’s signature accessory, which amped up the drama of her Karl Lagerfeld black one-shoulder dress from his archives while Hun Kim added a white draped scarf infusing an elegant touch.
We saw plenty of bridal looks on this red carpet, but none so dramatic as Alton Mason’s.
The model’s white lace jumpsuit was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s vision for a fairytale bride which closed his fashion shows.
I adore the delicate nature of this beaded corset jumpsuit, with nods to the designer’s personal style such as the strong shoulder silhouette, and the built-in fingerless gloves.
The sweetheart neckline was inspired by a jacket sourced from Karl’s personal archives.
Brian Tyree Henry had an amazing run during awards season by always serving looks that had an outside the box perspective.
This continued at the Met Gala as he rocked up to the red carpet wearing a Karl Lagerfeld Couture custom creation that was larger than life to match his personality.
The layers of pearl necklaces added to the tribute.
Manu Rios wore a Karl Lagerfeld Couture look which was inspired by the designer style from the ‘70s.
What a beautiful tribute, and bravo to Hun Kim who honoured the designer in such a succinct, and respectful fashion.
