Who’s that girl?
Apparently, she’s Julia Fox, which I would have never known if it weren’t for the tag on Getty Images. The 33-year-old was photographed in Los Angeles on May 11 wearing a vibrant three-piece set by TYT, an olive green leather jacket, and feathered (or are they hairy?) white heels. But it’s not the all over clown-print that had my jaw on the floor (by Julia Fox’s standards, this look is tame—casual, even), it’s her auburn hair.
Fox wore a wig styled in a shag cut and a colored a deep red that, when coupled with the clown print, brings to mind a certain fast-food mascot. (All due respect, Julia!)
Later, while attending Netflix’s “All Out: A Night of Pride,” she ditched the wig, opting for a more au natural look.
While Fox has played with texture over the years, stepping out in wet-hair looks or grainy, silver flecked strands, she’s mostly stayed consistent when it comes to the color of her hair, which she typically wears down, straight, and in her natural shade of warm brown. The wig, and especially the choppy, shag style, completely transforms her look.
The actor and podcaster has, however, been a big fan of experimenting in the beauty space. Who can forget her Black Swan-esque eyeliner? Not me! Her brows alone tried on at least four extreme trends—from bleached, to super thin, to penciled on, to bright red. In this context, a wig feels like a pretty natural evolution.
Apparently, this isn’t the wig’s grand debut. Last week, Fox shared a video from the recording of a recent episode of her podcast, Forbidden Fruits, with guest Grimes, in which she’s rocking the piece.
“It’s giving single mom who works two jobs, who loves her kids and never stops,” wrote one fan in the comments, referencing Reba McEntire’s “I’m a Survivor,” which is enjoying a resurgence in popularity thanks to TikTok parodies. Added another, “REBA?”
