Yahya Abdul-Mateen II attended the WSJ. Magazine 2023 Innovator Awards held at MoMA on Wednesday (November 1) in New York City, where he presented the Design Innovator Award to landscape architect Walter Hood.
We all know that Yahya has a penchant for the overcoat look, so I would have guessed that considering Matthew M Williams presented a few in his Givenchy Fall 2023 collection, that those pieces would have been the actors first choice.
But Yahya’s return to the red carpet saw him opt for a classic midnight blue Givenchy Fall 2023 satin lapel and metal clip closure suit.
It’s strange that I see this classic style as new, but that’s how it feels on Yahya, especially in terms of his slim-fit silhouette.
His signature vibrance, and sartorial elegance is always present, but the left side of my brain is wishing that he’d rocked an overcoat, for old times sake, Freddie Jackson style.
Givenchy black leather Squared derbies completed his look along with a hat which hid his cornrows.
