Gong Jun attended the VOGUE Forces of Fashion event in Shanghai, China on Thursday (November 23).
When Gong Jun came to my attention at the ‘Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny’ Cannes Film Festival premiere, he presented the world with the first Jason Wu Collection menswear look.
I’m sure many of you have this look etched into your BDOTY list like I have.
Gong Jun and Jason Wu collaborated once again for this occasion with the actor wearing a Jason Wu Collection Couture suit adorned with Sichuan embroidered panda elements.
This custom suit was a first collaboration between Jason Wu and Kang Ning, who is the national inheritor of China’s intangible cultural heritage of Sichuan embroidery, and through the use of this embroidery technique, the traditional panda pattern was transformed into a more modern and artistic form.
This look was perfectly aligned with the primary theme of the event, ‘The Times of Asia and the Power of Culture.’
It’s only when I looked at this a second time, that I could fully see the panda in the embroidery.
This is a truly fascinating look on face value, and after learning the story behind it.
