Though all seemed amicable, some fans wondered whether ABC may have encouraged the reconciliation in order to give Kathy—who had a strong fan base of her own—a little more air time. Alongside former Bachelorette Charity Lawson, Kathy served as a “golden-carpet correspondent.”
“Who thought it was a good idea to put a microphone in my hand on live television?” Kathy joked.
If you need a refresher, Kathy and Theresa butted heads over Theresa’s tendency to overshare—specifically about her chemistry with Gerry. Following their one-on-one date, the first of the season, Theresa went on and on (and on) about her and Gerry’s connection, rehashing every moment in excruciating detail. This play-by-play made Kathy feel insecure, given that she hadn’t had the opportunity to spend time alone with Gerry, and she asked Theresa to keep her budding relationship to herself. They were dating the same man, after all—a recipe for jealousy and also incredible reality TV.
However, Theresa interpreted Kathy’s request as a slight against her character, as though Theresa was intentionally rubbing the other women’s noses in her good fortune and their lack. And she also kept oversharing. A few “zip it”s later, Gerry sent Kathy packing and, as we all know by now, proposed to Theresa.
