Gather round, fashion cinephiles! Anne Hathaway and Anna Wintour caught up at the Versace runway show at Milan Fashion Week, and this may be the closest thing to a Devil Wears Prada sequel that we’re ever going to get (though a girl can always dream).

The front-row neighbors were filmed chatting ahead of the event, with Wintour expressing a touch of concern for Hathaway’s comfort in her form-fitting red leather corset dress. “Can you breathe?” Wintour can be heard asking the 41-year-old actor in the clip, which was shared on Instagram by Women’s Wear Daily.

“Very easily. I can’t turn but I can breathe,” Hathaway assured the Vogue’s editor-in-chief with a charming laugh. Nigel would be proud.

“She looks like she can spell Gabbana correctly,” one Instagram user commented on the interaction, referencing one of Andy Sachs’ early fashion fumbles in the iconic 2006 film, which is widely believed to have been inspired by Wintour and Vogue.

In The Devil Wears Prada, Andy Sachs (Hathaway) was regularly vying against fellow Runway assistant Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) for the favor of editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, played by the incomparable Meryl Streep. On February 24, all three actors will reunite as presenters at the 2024 SAG Awards.

While we couldn’t imagine anyone else in the role of Andy Sachs, Anne Hathaway once revealed she was the ninth choice for the part. Director David Frankel later confirmed that Hathaway had to fight hard to book the film. “We offered it to Rachel McAdams three times,” Frankel told Entertainment Weekly in June 2021. “The studio was determined to have her, and she was determined not to do it.”
