It’s been a busy few weeks for Rihanna who has been promoting her business ventures with Puma and her own Fenty Beauty makeup line, but on Sunday the mogul and her beau A$AP Rocky stepped out in New York City to celebrate Mother’s Day, which is observed in March in some corners of the globe.
For the occasion, Rihanna wore an unstructured, lettered top with a draped skirt from the Comme des Garçons Fall 2003 collection.
As you know I wasn’t a fan of Rihanna’s Alexander McQueen or her Peter Do looks, but this look sees her step back into her fashion icon status.
On the runway I would liken the look to the sacks used for carrying potatoes or rice, but the colour, and styling of Rihanna’s look elevated the vintage ensemble into an intriguing date night look.
Black sandals and a vintage Gucci bag from the Spring 1996 collection completed a bold and colourful look which I have missed from her.
A$AP Rocky is usually the one wearing bold colours, but it wasn’t his night, so he kept his look muted wearing just one of the two Bottega Veneta cardigans from the Pre-Fall 2024 collection which we recently saw on Giveon, styled with sartorial wool trousers and Bottega Veneta Strut lace-up shoes.
