One of the standout moments of the evening was Gugu Mbatha-Raw wearing a pink sequined fringed Prada dress. In motion, the dress was captivating with its shimmering fringe detailing creating a mesmerising effect that highlighted her graceful movements. However, the still photograph failed to capture the dress’s dynamic qualities, rendering the top half flat and giving the illusion of a boxy silhouette. This discrepancy between video and photograph highlighted the challenge of truly capturing the essence of certain fashion pieces.
Alexa Chung, known for her ever-evolving style, continued her trend of exploration with a boudoir-inspired dress by Nensi Dojaka. This Nensi Dojaka custom dress from the Fall 2023 collection, was inspired by the green dress Keira Knightley wore in ‘Atonement.’ With its delicate cut-out and stunning silhouette, the was a departure from Alexa’s previous red carpet outings, showing a newfound appreciation for daring elegance. I know some believe that Nensi Dojaka’s designs can be overly provocative, but I feel that Alexa’s choice struck a perfect balance of sophistication and sensuality, a testament to her impeccable taste.
Kanika Kapoor’s outfit was a delightful nod to the artistic nature of the event. Her doodle-print bustier top and wide-leg trousers from Christopher John Rogers’ Pre-Fall 2023 collection perfectly captured the celebratory mood. The playful yet sophisticated ensemble echoed the creative spirit of the Serpentine, making it a fitting choice for the occasion.
Tennis legend Venus Williams also turned heads in a custom white halter dress by 16Arlington. The dress, adorned with moderate draped panels, was a refined take on the label’s signature style for Spring 2024. Pomellato jewelry completed her look.
Lee Jung-jae demonstrated the timeless appeal of grey and rose-pink in a Dior Men Spring 2023 ensemble.
