The Culver Theater in Culver City, California, played host to the LA premiere of the new animated film ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon’ on Sunday.
Among the attendees was Zooey Deschanel, who brought her quintessential retro flair to the red carpet, paying homage to the film’s title character with her outfit choice.
Embracing the theme, Zooey dazzled in a purple vintage Anna Sui baroque jacquard dress which perfectly aligned with her signature ’60s mod style, as it featured a classic A-line silhouette.
True to form, she styled her dress with a pair of purple tights, an accessory that has become synonymous with her red carpet appearances, irrespective of the season.
Some might question the practicality of tights with a heatwave sweeping the globe, but for Zooey, they are, and will always be, a staple.
To complement her vibrant purple dress and tights, Zooey chose a lilac Roger Vivier bag, adding a subtle yet sophisticated touch to her ensemble which was completed with a pair of eggplant coloured flats.
Some won’t be on board with the styling, but I have to admire how Zooey stayed true to her personal style while creatively nodding to the theme of the event and striking the perfect blend of vintage charm and playful elegance.
