Solange Knowles Wore Proenza Schouler To Saint Heron's ‘Monuments Are Here’ New York Premiere

Solange Knowles Wore Proenza Schouler To Saint Heron's ‘Monuments Are Here’ New York Premiere

Solange Knowles has always been a visionary, not just in music but across multiple artistic disciplines. So it’s no surprise that Saint Heron, her multi-disciplinary studio founded in 2013, premiered ‘Monuments Are Here’—a three-minute short created and written by Solange and directed by Nuotama Bodomo—at the Guggenheim in New York City on Thursday. The event, presented by Crown Royal, was as much a celebration of art as it was of Solange’s enduring influence on contemporary culture.

For the premiere, Solange stepped out in a Proenza Schouler Fall 2024 dress that will look familiar as Naomi Ackie wore the same dress to the ‘Blink Twice’ London photocall this week, which was four days later than Solange.

The dress sparked mixed opinions regarding its design, but I feel that Solange’s interpretation offers a fresh perspective that could sway even the sceptics.

In Solange’s version, the dress has a slightly looser fit, styled with tights, Proenza Schouler strappy sandals, and Sophie Buhai drop earrings. This subtle shift in styling makes a world of difference. The addition of tights creates a seamless transition with the bottom sheer layer of the dress, giving the ensemble a cohesive, polished look that feels both intentional and effortlessly chic.

For those who initially weren’t on board with the dress’ design, does Solange’s take change your mind? It certainly does for me. While Naomi Ackie’s bold choice was admirable, Solange’s Proenza Schouler outing feels like a more natural fit for her aesthetic—a perfect blend of high fashion and understated elegance that we’ve come to expect from her.

Label-wise, Proenza Schouler aligns well with Solange’s avant-garde style, which pushes boundaries while maintaining a sense of refined sophistication.

For me, Solange’s interpretation of the Proenza Schouler dress is preferable, seamlessly blending art, fashion, and personal style into a look that feels uniquely her own, despite the double wear in the space of four days.
