Mid-rise hive, our time has come. While we were all busy fretting about the return of low-rise jeans, Bella Hadid had the courage to take a stand for the humble mid-rise, which is the only correct rise of jeans. And no, I will not be elaborating further or taking any questions.
Hadid was pictured in Los Angeles on August 27 wearing mid-rise, boot-cut jeans that are just short enough to show off the tops of her black boots. As per usual, she styled the jeans with some cowgirl-inspired touches, including a leather belt with a chunky buckle and a lacy, long-sleeved white crop-top. It’s the crochet collar detail and bell sleeves that make this blouse look like it would look at home in an old timey saloon. Hadid traded her favorite Coach bag for a YSL tote in a similar style for this outfit, and added sunglasses and a few silver rings to complete the ensemble.
For as long as Y2K fashion has been making a comeback, those of us who were there the first time around have been dreading the return of ultra-low-rise flares. But Bella Hadid’s outfit is a good reminder that before low-rise was a thing, there was the mid-rise bootcut. And that is a trend I will happily revisit any day of the week.
