Cate Blanchett Wore Givenchy To The TIFF Tribute Awards

Cate Blanchett has been dominating the film festival circuit this year, making stunning appearances at Cannes, Venice, and now Toronto.

On Sunday night, the Australian actress attended the TIFF Tribute Awards at the Fairmont Royal York where all eyes were on her.

Cate’s choice to wear a Givenchy Spring 2019 gown couldn’t have been timelier, coinciding with the announcement that Sarah Burton will be taking over as Givenchy’s new creative director (which is symbolic in itself as Lee McQueen was there for so long). This marks a much-needed shift for the fashion house, which has been languishing under Matthew M. Williams’ uninspired leadership. We can now breathe a sigh of relief, as the talented Sarah Burton is set to bring her magic back to a major label. While March 2025, when her first collection drops, seems far away, it’s a moment we can’t wait for.

As for Cate, this distinctive kaleidoscope prism floral print Givenchy gown may have given you déjà vu as she first wore this dress at the 2018 British Academy Britannia Awards. Though the styling was slightly different—this time she changed up her hairstyle and opted for different jewels—Cate’s presence remains as magnetic as ever.

Her willingness to rewear such a striking piece also speaks to her sustainability mindset, making her a true fashion icon who isn’t afraid to repeat.
