A 1950s-Inspired Triumph in Custom Couture
Brie Larson, nominated for Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for ‘Lessons in Chemistry’, has been gravitating toward vintage aesthetics recently. While her custom Chanel dress drew inspiration from the Fall 2024 Haute Couture collection, it was a fresh, contemporary design that perfectly blended her vintage sensibilities with modern sophistication.
The navy blue dress, embroidered with delicate drop crystal beads and cinched at the waist with a black satin bow, exuded a classic 1950s elegance. The structured peplum silhouette added a nod to old Hollywood glamour while maintaining a whimsy feel. It’s clear that Chanel’s design team has found a rhythm with Brie’s style, especially after a somewhat rocky red carpet history, most notably during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
The finishing touches—Brie’s hair styled in a sleek ponytail tied with a bow, Chanel jewels, and black Chanel pumps.

Pure Elegance in a Velvet Masterpiece
Nicole Beharie, nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for ‘The Morning Show’, delivered one of the night’s most elegant moments in a Chanel Fall 2023 Haute Couture bustier mermaid gown. This look was nothing short of breathtaking, from the sensual off-the-shoulder silhouette to the intricate black velvet camellias that adorned the gown. Every detail was an ode to Chanel’s iconic heritage, but the execution felt refreshingly modern.
The dainty black bow in leather-satin at the neckline added a playful touch to an otherwise regal ensemble, making this one of my favourite Chanel looks in recent memory. Nicole’s styling was flawless, with Chanel High Jewelry adding just the right amount of sparkle to enhance the gown’s luxurious feel.
I couldn’t help but think: why can’t Penelope Cruz’s team select looks like this when dressing her in Chanel? Nicole Beharie’s look was a lesson in how to make classic Chanel elements feel fresh, elegant, and undeniably chic.
