Demi Moore Wore Loewe To 'The Substance' London Screening

As I said when discussing her last BDOTY worthy look, 2024 has truly been the year of Demi Moore. From red carpets to special events, her impeccable style choices have continually impressed. However, as the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end,” and that flawless run took an unfortunate turn during the BFI presentation of her new film, ‘The Substance’, at the BFI Southbank in London on Wednesday.

I am honestly stunned into silence seeing Demi in this Loewe Fall 2024 look featuring those balloon cargo trousers. They didn’t work on Ayo Edebiri—who is a Loewe aficionado—so for someone like Demi, who has always leaned into high glamour, this was a gamble that, quite frankly, didn’t pay off. Loewe is known for pushing boundaries, but this particular silhouette feels out of place on someone whose signature style is rooted in timeless sophistication.

Granted, not every event calls for high glamour, but I still can’t comprehend how her stylist looked at these pants on the runway and thought they’d be a good fit for Demi—both figuratively and literally. She’s practically drowning in the sea of fabric created by these XXXL oversized trousers. They overwhelm her frame and ultimately distract from what could have been a chic, modern ensemble.

I genuinely hope that other stars take note and think twice before opting for these trousers in the future—they aren’t flattering on anyone.

The only part of this look that I’m willing to get behind is from the waist up. The combination of the silk shirt and navy blazer was on track to deliver something sophisticated and cool, fitting Demi’s usual standard. Unfortunately, the trousers, paired with those radish-embellished Loewe shoes, completely derailed it. This risk may have been a bid for something bold and editorial, but in this case, it fell flat. Here’s hoping for a return to Demi’s consistently stellar style in her next appearance.
