Celebrities at the 2024 Academy Museum Gala

Here is a final sweep of the 20 notable women who graced the red carpet for the 2024 Academy Museum Gala.

Andra Day had a golden goddess moment in a Georges Chakra Spring 2024 Couture gown, featuring gold crochet paillettes and a draped hood. This look feels long overdue and is undoubtedly one of her best, potentially ever. REZA jewelry perfectly complemented the ensemble.

It feels like Anna Kendrick has fully stepped into a new fashion era, and I am here for it. She looked effortlessly glamorous in a blue sequin Monique Lhuillier strapless gown, leaving behind any trace of her former twee style.

I’m utterly confused by Aubrey Plaza in this Miu Miu dress. What are those bows doing? Why does it look like…? Nevermind. I give up.

Danielle Deadwyler channeled her inner Mystique with a Ferragamo Fall 2024 black patent scale leather dress, making a powerful statement.

Eiza González opted for a simple yet sultry vibe in a backless Nina Ricci gown that oozes old Hollywood glamour. David Yurman jewelry added the finishing touch.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Nina Ricci dress, shared by her hairstylist Renato Campora on Instagram, had fan pleats that flared out dramatically. While some might be disappointed that she lowered the pleats for the red carpet, I think she made the right call.

Elle Hunt found the perfect balance between tough and glamorous, marrying leather and sequins in this Ludovic de Saint Sernin Spring 2025 look with striking effect.

Eva Longoria can sometimes be hit or miss on the red carpet, but this elegant Georges Hobeika Fall 2024 Couture gown was a definite hit. Santoni shoes and Simon G jewels completed the look.

I didn’t know Balmain could be so underwhelming until now. Jessica Biel brought no life to this dress. I can easily picture JLo owning it. Cartier jewelry and a Tyler Ellis clutch were her accessories of choice.

As much as it needed to be pulled up, Kathryn Newton’s Tamara Ralph strapless pink embellished gown is a win for her, especially considering how her previous Chanel looks were aging her.

It’s hard to focus on Kendall Jenner’s Schiaparelli dress when her new blonde hair is so distracting, and not in a good way. De Beers jewels completed her look.

Laura Harrier broke free from her usual Saint Laurent aesthetic and embraced a bold, grommeted, laced-up leather dress from Ludovic de Saint Sernin, which was a welcome and exciting departure.

Some dresses should remain archived, as Mindy Kaling’s Versace dress felt a bit dated.

Monica Barbaro let her Ralph Lauren Collection Fall 2024 embellished gown do all the talking. It wasn’t loud, but it spoke with elegant precision.

Nicole Richie stepped out in the same yellow bell-sleeve Rocha Resort 2025 dress that we saw on Victoria Luengo during the San Sebastian Film Festival. Rodo shoes completed her look.

Drop-waist silhouettes can be tricky, but Olivia Wilde pulled it off with ease in a green Erdem lace dress. Tiffany & Co. jewelry added the perfect finishing touch.

Pamela Anderson continues to embrace minimalism with her look from The Row.

This Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 1995 yellow off-the-shoulder dress could have been a standout moment for Rachel Sennott, but there is something about the fabric composition that didn’t land, which isn’t helped by the fact that the skirt is too long. If you’re going to pull from the archives, you must do justice to the piece, and the designer. This look left me irritated, as it feels like archive pulls are happening “just because.”

Remember when Rashida Jones used to have such a vibrant red carpet style? Maybe this is her new direction, but this Dior ensemble felt too somber and mature. Fred Leighton jewelry completed her look.

Taraji P. Henson didn’t need those black gloves with her Tamara Ralph mirror-effect gown, and I wish the floral detail sat just an inch higher to avoid seeing the illusion panel.
